This was the 5th time Benfica made it to the final. The match was 1-1 after 90min, goals scored by Bobby Charlton (53′) and Jaime Graça (79′). Man United was lead by the captain Bobby Charlton, and they had George Best who showboated his dribbling capabilty and tormented the portuguese defense through out the whole match. The british proved to have a stronger team and high intensity of gameplay. During the half hour of extra time they scored 3 more times: George Best (92′) , Brian Kidd (94′) , Bobby Charlton (98′); so United became the first english club to be European Champions.
