Manchester United made it three wins from three Champions League Group A matches as they eked out a 1-0 win at Benfica on Wednesday. United deserved the victory, which keeps them top in the group ahead of Basel, although the winning goal in Portugal came via a huge mistake from Benfica’s 18-year-old keeper Mile Svilar. Marcus Rashord’s curling delivery from a free-kick fooled the Benfica keeper, and the youngster’s efforts to scramble back and catch the ball on his line only resulted in his momentum taking him over. The referee awarded Jose Mourinho’s men the 64th minute winner while Benfica lost Luisao to a second yellow card in stoppage time.
